Who we are

Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is a not-for-profit organisation that works with partners to alleviate disadvantage – towards an Australia where all people and communities thrive. We influence systems to deliver better social outcomes for people by learning about what works in communities, helping organisations be more effective, sharing our perspectives and advocating for change

The Policy & Advocacy (P&A) team supports SVA to achieve its mission by improving SVA’s practical knowledge about reducing disadvantage. We play a pivotal role in understanding the external evidence of what works and codifying the learning from SVA’s work with partners in the areas of Education, Employment, Housing, First Australians, Disability, Mental Health and Early Childhood. Our work drives SVA’s systems change agenda taking SVA’s perspectives and using them to influence government policy and sector practice to become more effective and reduce disadvantage.

The Marketing & Communications team works across SVA’s business units to grow the influence and reputation of SVA. SVA’s marketing efforts are focused on a wide range of stakeholders, building brand awareness, and supporting relationships with funders, investors, investees, clients, venture partners and policy makers. The team is responsible for managing SVA’s brand and thought leader positioning and is employing the full mix of marketing channels including events, digital, traditional, and social media, and collateral.

The Position

SVA has a fantastic opportunity for an efficient administration professional to support the Director of Public Affairs and  both the Policy & Advocacy and Marketing & Communications teams. You will use your effective and high-level administrative skills to ensure the smooth operation of the business and enhance team effectiveness by providing key information and focused support on major or complex scheduling and administrative items. Your role includes liaison and coordination within the teams and other SVA business units and assisting with special projects to improve operational efficiency and contribute to the overall objectives of SVA. This position provides exposure to an interesting scope of work in support of addressing disadvantage in Australia.

Special requirements

Ability to occasionally attend events outside of standard office hours as required.
 
Who you are

Do you:

  • come with a strong eye for detail and the desire to ensure that systems and processes are robust?
  • have an interest in policy, advocacy, marketing and/or communications in the context of reducing disadvantage in Australia
  • enjoy working across a range of administration responsibilities, including meetings and travel management, supporting data collection for evaluation and supporting finance processes?
  • have a good working knowledge of Salesforce, SharePoint, WordPress and/or Campaign Monitor or similar systems and Microsoft Office?
