About the role

Australian Red Cross considers that being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification of this role under s 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

  • Maximum term position until 30 December 2022
  • Full time hours
  • Narooma, NSW location

 

The Aboriginal Community Engagement Facilitator Place Base Lead will be the lead facilitator for the Australian Red Cross place-based community development program at Wallaga Lake and surrounding areas.

The place-based program works through a strengths-based approach to improve wellbeing and strengthens the capacity of the community and individuals to plan for, and respond to, local needs and aspirations.

The position will build effective partnerships with community members and community stakeholder groups that build a consistent and collaborative approach to working in partnership with the Aboriginal community.

The position is responsible for the alignment of Red Cross projects, program s and lead and direct Red Cross in ways of working within the place-based approach.

 

What you will bring

  • Experience in managing both staff and volunteers is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities particularly strategies to work in a strengths-based way being led by community
  • Experience working with vulnerable and at-risk individuals and communities
  • Ability to engage and communicate with individuals and groups, tailoring communication to suit the specific group and situation
  • Mentoring and facilitation skills and experience

 

A current Australian Drivers licence and a Working with Children Check are mandatory requirements for this role.
