The role

Are you an experienced bequests fundraiser who loves to share compelling stories and connect supporters to their legacy of giving to help fight heart disease and protect Australian hearts, now and beyond their lifetime to impact future generations? You will share stories about people, messages, and information about Heart Foundation’s programs, mission, purpose, and successes, and demonstrate the difference that their contribution can make in our community and in the heart health of Australians.

Reporting to the National Relationship Fundraising Manager, and leading a team of 5, you will deliver a strategic national bequests program, focussing on residual bequests and consistent stewardship of confirmed bequest donors. A newly revised structure has created this extraordinary leadership opportunity to contribute to the growth of revenue from Gifts in Wills, and oversee a significant national program through:

  • Managing a small team to build scale, pipeline and engagement with a portfolio of Heart Foundation donors across the lifecycle from acquisition, retention, stewardship and confirmation of gift in will, through to estate management
  • Overseeing the Estates program including forecast, CRM and all complex and contested estate processes

Responsibilities

  • You will lead a team to steward the current portfolio of confirmed bequestors and implement strategies to solicit, engage, acquire and steward supporters to include Heart Foundation in their giving plans.
  • Execute the Heart Foundation Bequest strategy
  • Manage the program budget, team metrics reporting and strategic goals
  • Management of the database, insights and analytics to ensure data is captured, leveraged and maximised to achieve outcomes
  • Manage agency relationships and campaigns including call lists, scripts, coaching, data imports and invoicing
  • Build a high performing and collaborative team culture

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A relationship fundraiser with proven experience in building, leading and delivering bequest programs
  • Ability to motivate, inspire, lead and train a small team to ensure high performance and revenue targets are met, along with a professional, collaborative team culture
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills with a proven record of building relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to connect the hearts and minds of donors through compelling storytelling, together with evidence, research, data and impact
  • Financial literacy
  • Proven experience and leadership across the systems, processes, code of ethics and operations that underpin best practice fundraising, particularly gift in wills and estate management
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications, Raiser’s Edge and other databases
  • Relevant tertiary qualification, and/or proven experience
