About the role
A bit about the role
An exciting opportunity exists for community focused Bus Drivers to join the Youth Services team to support the facilitation of mobile programming from our new state of the art mobile youth facility – the Wyndham Street Surfer Bus.
The bus will provide outreach activities and projects including programs, events and services that encourage and support young people aged 12 to 25 who live, work, study or recreate in the City of Wyndham using a community engagement and youth participation. The bus will be on the road four to six days and nights a week.
Did we mention this new bus is fitted with all the bells and whistles like WIFI, music and DJ equipment, gaming consoles, art equipment and five LCD screens as well as an outdoor LCD screen which can be used for gaming and movies?
You will be responsible for providing safe, careful, and responsible transport of our Youth Services staff members and partner agencies by driving the Wyndham Street Surfer Bus (Mobile Outreach Service) to a variety of locations within the Wyndham municipality.
You will enjoy working directly with the community and critical to this position will be your experience and love for working with young people and the community. To support meeting the program objectives, you will have excellent time management skills and as an integral member of the Street Surfer Bus team you will contribute to great team dynamics as the team will be working across the week, with evening and weekend work required.
What you’ll bring
- Experience in working directly with the community including young people
- Ability to deal with a wide range of people coupled with minor problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Current endorsed Heavy Vehicle licence (HR)
- Experience working with young people (desirable)
- Comprehensive knowledge of safe working practices regarding Occupational Health and Safety issues
- Current First Aid (Level 2) and Working with Children Check is also desirable, or willingness to obtain
