About the organisation

Organisation Name : The Foundation for Young Australians (FYA)

Today’s generation of young Australians are facing unprecedented and intersecting crises. They also have the skills, insight and ambition to address them. At the Foundation for Young Australians, our vision is that young people have the power to beat injustice and transform the future. In pursuit of this vision, our purpose is to back young people with the trust, resources, skills, and connections to make change.

We’re the largest independent nonprofit in Australia dedicated to backing the capacity, voice, and power of young changemakers. With a team of more than 50 strategists, advocates, facilitators and researchers (to name a few) our headquarters are in Melbourne (Naarm) but our teams work remotely around the country.

Our values

  • We respect and back First Nations young people and their communities
  • We back and serve young people
  • We shift power to young people with lived experience
  • We dream big
  • We care about each other
  • We are always learning
  • We have fun

About the role

You will design and implement cutting-edge programs to support youth-led campaigns to win systems change on issues of local, national and global significance. This will include backing existing youth-led groups to win campaigns and new youth-led groups to start rapid response, short and medium term campaigns – from providing strategic and operational advice on campaign plans to creating group training and knowledge retention strategies

You will work closely with FYA’s Advocacy & Campaigns and First Nations teams, and youth-led campaigning partners.

Key to success will be your ability to work in a team, your demonstrated track record of winning systems change, and your hands-on experience working with communities facing structural oppression.
