About the role

About the role 

The role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Vision 2020 Australia’s membership program including retention and growth. 

The Membership Manager will: 

  • Evaluate and continuously improve the membership offer and our value proposition.
  • Develop and implement a member acquisition strategy including new corporate sponsors, in line with the constitution.
  • Coordinate member engagement and support, including development of an annual member engagement strategy/calendar and set up of associated meetings.
  • Use initiative, drive, and energy to create a membership pipeline and actively pursue new members
  • Manage member enquiries and complaints by responding to or referring enquiries to the appropriate team manager in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to maintaining the Workbooks CRM database, including keeping an accurate register of members, including, all interactions, as well optimising the member and stakeholder experience of V2020A.
  • Build and manage relationships with our current and potential members.
  • Develop and implement a Member Recruitment Strategy.
  • Run the annual renewal program, ensuring an attractive offer to enhance retention.
  • Review and redesign the membership fee structure.
  • Plan, develop and run a suite of events that attract new members and align with member needs, including current major events such as Parliamentary Friends Group meetings, Annual General Meetings and CEO forums.
  • Design and deliver a suite of quality events to support members and enhance the organsiations advocacy work .

 Key roles and responsibilities

Skills and knowledge

  • Experience in membership-based organisations.
  • Experience in designing and running successful and engaging events.
  • Capacity to negotiate and represent the sector and member interests at public/media, senior government, non-government, corporate sector, and member levels.
  • Project Management including planning, coordination and Monitoring.
  • Strategy development and execution: able to identify emerging issues and opportunities and develop well considered, creative strategies to manage these; able to balance longer term strategic considerations with short term action/responses.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure. 
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, document and enforce organisational wide processes and systems to streamline work and identify efficiencies.
  • Ability to be flexible with an aptitude for lateral thinking to solve complex issues.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, taking pride in the delivery of quality work.
  • Relevant graduate and post graduate tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.

Other relevant information

  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite of products and online meeting platforms such as Zoom 
  • Some interstate travel will be required. 
  • Knowledge of eye care and/or the broader health sector will be highly regarded.

Time commitment

The appointment will initially be for a 12 month period with the potential for extension. The office is located in Melbourne but we will consider candidates based in other capital cities. Flexible working arrangements available.
