About the organisation
BackTrack Youth Works (BackTrack) keeps kids alive, out of jail and chasing their hopes and dreams. Based in Armidale NSW, the organisation supports young people (aged 12 - 25 years old) who are having a tough time and are falling through the cracks of a mainstream system that doesn't meet their complex needs.
Back in 2006, BackTrack founder Bernie Shakeshaft saw these young people being left behind in our society and knew they needed holistic, flexible and long-term support that could help get their lives back on track. Fifteen years later, the organisation has become nationally recognised for its proven approach to engaging, educating, training and employing vulnerable young people. With the support of a dedicated, capable team and impressive Board, BackTrack continues to expand its service delivery and develop the organisational infrastructure it needs to sustainably reach more young people in regional communities throughout Australia.
This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-paced, dynamic organisation at a critical point in its growth trajectory. The newly established role of Grants and Funding Manager will be crucial in ensuring that BackTrack's approach to generating income is strategic, creative and sustainable.
About the role
- Oversee the organisation's diverse reporting commitments to funders
- Support ongoing stakeholder engagement and relationship-building
- Identify grant opportunities and ensure contract obligations are met

The Grants and Funding Manager will support BackTrack’s senior Executives and Partnerships Advisor to maintain their strong relationships with major funders, while taking direct responsibility for small donor engagement. They will work closely with BackTrack’s Communications Manager to ensure that all funders receive the recognition, reporting and information they need to stay engaged and motivated.
