About the Role

To support in providing holistic immediate services support to newly arrived refugees and humanitarian entrants in order to facilitate effective resettlement in Australia through HSP services.

These services include: welcome and reception at the airport, transit services and provision of communication devices where appropriate, client’s immediate on arrival cultural/food/products and religious needs, client’s on arrival logistics needs, emergency services and property induction, assigning bilingual guides to clients, and initial essential registrations.

The role involves travel including driving to different locations and walking/accompanying clients to various appointments.

 

About You

  • Support the coordination of arrival times of referred HSP clients.
  • Assist the HSP Immediate Services Staff in providing Immediate Deliverables including managing mobile phones and food packages for new arrivals, Foundation Settlement Services components of HSP Program to HSP clients
  • Assist the HSP Immediate Services Staff in delivering Reception Assistance (including Safety and Property Induction, Local Settlement Orientation and arranging Initial Food Provision), supporting clients with registrations for essential services and orientation to life in Australia as directed by the Immediate Services Team Leader
  • Support/assist in developing initial case management plans including Foundation Settlement Service to empower clients to access services independently
  • Assist clients to achieve their goals as developed in case management plan as directed by the Immediate Services Team Leader
  • Support the delivery of transit assistance to HSP clients requiring help with their connecting flights on onward travel arrangements ·
  • Assist client with their immediate accommodation needs including dealing with HSP housing staff, Basic Household Goods (BHG) supplier(s), in consultation with the Immediate Services Team Leader, Case Manager and Housing Officers
  • Assist housing officers & case managers to help HSP clients to build their skills and knowledge around tenancy rights and responsibilities

 

Essential Criteria

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification or relevant experience
  • Good time management practices and ability to prioritise
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a dynamic team
  • Working with culturally & linguistically diverse communities
  • Working level of written and spoken English skills
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft office applications

 

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Current driver’s license
  • Knowledge of local services in local community
