About the role

Reporting to the Executive, People Performance and Culture, the Wellbeing and Health Manager will partner with leaders to drive safety and wellbeing initiatives and projects and manage operational WHS matters.

You will lead a team of two in providing technical guidance across the organization to ensure effective and efficient management of safety, workers compensation, injury management and return to work systems. You will make decisions that result in immediate and meaningful impact and will feel supported to push your capabilities and explore new ideas with leaders who are open, transparent and encouraging.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Provide advice to the organisation about compliance with WHS obligations and risk management strategies.
  • Develop and maintain safety and workers compensation policies and procedures.
  • Lead safety and wellbeing projects and responses, formulating action plans and next steps.
  • Manage workers compensation stakeholders and outcomes.
  • Identify strategies and a way forward in dealing with closing old outstanding matters.
  • Develop the team to effectively manage workloads and re-prioritizing/juggling as needed.
  • Provide support and guidance to team members in developing and implementing proactive workforce planning strategies tailored to the needs of the business unit, supporting the strategic direction of a rapidly growing WHS team.
  • Monitoring projects across the team to achieve balance in proactive and reactive delivery.
  • Ensuring the delivery of WHS training, incident and hazard reporting.
  • Lead WHS committee and ensure accountabilities are made and held
  • Monthly and ad-hoc reporting on safety training, incidents, workers compensation, near misses, hazards etc.
  • Oversight of audits and follow-up actions.
  • Work with and upskill site management with respect to safety management and implementation of the Safety Management System.
  • Embed a culture of continuous improvement within the WHS Team.
  • Keep up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the common and unique requirements and challenges across all business units.

 

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Work, Health and Safety.
  • Sound knowledge of the application of Australian WHS legislation, codes and standards
  • Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and developing a team of WHS professionals.
  • Well-developed skills in Microsoft Office 365, data analytics and reporting.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
