About the role
The mission of the Communications Office is to creatively promote the Good News (the Gospel message) across the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne.
An exciting new opportunity has become available for the purposeful growth of digital media to further engage the Catholic community and wider public in the campaigns, projects and ongoing work of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne.
In this role you will be responsible for developing and implementing an online/social media strategy that promotes the Good News of Jesus Christ. You will use your strong technical capability and understanding of new trends to provide insights and new ideas using data analytics.
This role would suit someone who enjoys being proactive and wants to be part of a digital transformation story where there’s an ability to participate in end-to-end creative execution.
Flexible working arrangements are available. In this role you will be required to work some out of hours on-call work on both an ad hoc and rostered basis including weekends.
In this role you will:
- be responsible for developing and implementing a social media and digital communications strategy to promote the works of the Archdiocese
- oversee the day-to-day social media Communications of the Archdiocese and develop regular social media campaigns that encourage a deeper understanding of the Gospel
- develop a “voice” for the Archdiocese through its online presence that is both informative and formative, actively seeking stories/opportunities that celebrate the lived expression of the Gospel
- write, produce and publish content (incl. short form videos, social media copy, newsletters) for digital media channels on a regular basis in line with the overall communications strategy and content plan
- ensure content is up-to-date on Archdiocesan websites, primarily www.melbournecatholic.org, as well as other Archdiocesan websites, and adheres to Archdiocesan style guide
- contribute to content strategies by applying audience research, SEO strategies, industry trends, best practice and creative ideation
- support parish offices in the development of their website/s in collaboration with IT when needed
- possess a strong understanding of the values and teachings of the Catholic Church, and an ability to appreciate and respect its lived experience
- have at least 3-5 years’ demonstrated experience in content production and experience in digital content management and writing
- a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Journalism, Web Design, Marketing, PR or Communications
- high proficiency in a range of social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), experience using various CMS (Craft, MailChimp) and Adobe Creative Suite (PremierePro, Illustrator, Photoshop).
