The General Sir John Monash Foundation was established in 2001 with an initial contribution from the Australian Federal Government together with further contributions from corporate and private sponsors and donors. Its purpose is to raise funds for, and to administer, Australia’s own postgraduate scholarships - the John Monash Scholarships - to foster leadership, expertise and international networks, as well as build Australia’s capabilities for the future.

The John Monash Scholarships are postgraduate scholarships awarded to outstanding Australians with leadership potential who wish to study overseas. These prestigious awards enable scholars from a wide range of disciplines to deepen their expertise, achieve real progress in tackling some of the major challenges in our time and build invaluable global connections. The John Monash Scholarships are amongst the most important postgraduate scholarships currently available in Australia.

About the role

Since 2002 the General Sir John Monash Foundation has become one of the major contributors to developing the next generation of Australian leaders through identifying and awarding John Monash Scholarships to outstanding young Australians to undertake post graduate study overseas.

We are looking for an Executive Assistant and Office Administrator who will be excited to become one of a dynamic team of 5 hardworking, dedicated people who are passionate about the work we do. It is a busy and inspiring role where you will be part an organisation working to foster a positive future for Australia. You will be multi-skilled, a confident communicator, great at time management and have a positive attitude.

This is a full-time role, based in Melbourne’s CBD.

About the role:

This is a critical role in a small and very busy team that requires a range of skills. You will be a high performing EA and Office Administrator providing outstanding administrative support to the CEO and other executive staff. You will also be the primary administration contact for John Monash Scholars currently studying and to the Alumni. Other duties include managing the smooth operations of the office, IT support and being the OH&S Officer.

As the first point of contact for the Foundation in many instances, a mature, confident and cheerful demeanour is imperative, as is the ability to interact appropriately with the broad range of people who support our Foundation. You will have proven experience in dealing with diverse stakeholders where exceptional relationship management capabilities with an understanding of confidentiality, accuracy and attention to detail are non-negotiable. Adaptability to changing priorities, well-developed verbal and written communication skills and exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills are expected.
