Women’s Legal Service Victoria (WLSV) is a specialist organisation providing services and support to women since 1982. WLSV exists to help build a gender equitable society, driving systemic change and advocating for solutions for equality, safety and economic security. They work alongside women experiencing disadvantage to promote their rights to live free from violence. 
  
As a social change organisation, you will be part of identifying structural barriers and inequality for women and working to overcome them at both the client and community level. Systemic advocacy is driven from their practice and the lived experience of clients. At this critical time for gender equality, WLSV are at the forefront of seizing the opportunity for change.
  
This newly created role will develop communications and content that will help raise awareness, engagement and visibility leading to social change, law and policy reform in the interests of women and their children and for broader gender equality. Reporting to the Strategic Communications and Engagement Manager, you will implement various projects across digital platforms through high quality communications and content development, media releases, social media, website and digital engagement. 

You will assist in creating a variety of content, cross-promoting relevant articles, educating your audience and keeping them informed on issues and resources that affect the community, as well as producing high quality, persuasive, content and dynamic visual designs for all digital channels and website. You will always be on the lookout for content ideas, able to stay current in your knowledge of the sector and issues facing disadvantaged women and children. This role will be able to turn complex information into clear language, and will help to grow and maximise the reach, engagement, awareness and advocacy of WLSV’s work through digital channels, campaign work and digital presence.

About You

  • You are passionate and committed to using your digital, communication and campaign skills to help build a gender equitable society
  • A talented writer and storyteller who can communicate with different audiences and translate complex issues into compelling and action-worthy moments Strong content focus that contributes towards influential communications and campaigns on a large variety of topics
  • Excellent digital skills, including planning and creating a meaningful social media content calendar and dynamic visuals across campaign support, policy, advocacy, media and current issues. Proven experience with a busy schedule that includes posting, scheduling, monitoring social media accounts and reporting analytics
  • Proven ability to work proactively and liaise across various stakeholders to produce impactful projects and information
  • Proven ability to effectively manage competing priorities calmly and with initiative and sound judgement based on priorities
  • A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline is required and a minimum of three years’ relevant experience, ideally within the legal, community or not-for-profit sector
