The Role
Reporting to the chief executive officer and the Board, the financial manager is responsible for accounting and audit compliance, adherence to all industrial awards, agreements and contracts for services and ensuring the financial stability of the organisation through cost effective operations.
Specific responsibilities include the creation of the annual budgets, monitoring and reporting on outcomes as well as providing accurate and timely financial reports to the CEO, Board and other stakeholders. You will also estimate costs for additional or extended services and the implications of the NDIS.
You will Develop simple and effective systems and internal controls and manage the financial monitoring of all contracts alongside the management of property and other assets.
Overseeing the processing of payroll and accounting transactions and managing a small team of 2 is also an integral part of your role.
Skills Required
You are a qualified finance and accounting professional with significant experience in complex organisations. Relevant hands on experience will include contract management, preparation of tender documents and activity based costing.
You will have knowledge and experience of Australian Taxation requirements, Office of Consumer and Business Affairs requirements, contemporary financial management systems and audit processes.
A sound knowledge of the financial environment of working within a not for profit organisation is expected as well as a proven record working within the NDIS funding model.
Other requirements include –
- Experience working as part of an executive team in a senior financial role.
- Significant and proven experience in managing the delivery of supported services to people with disability.
- Experience in a not for profit organisation or disability services
