Your new job
The First Nations Manager is responsible for leading Orygen’s implementation of First Nation’s strategies and projects to improve outcomes and service delivery for First Nations People’s of Australia.
The First Nations Manager will create and maintain strong relationships, notably with First Nations communities, organisations, and the health sector. The position will provide leadership in embedding self-determination and cultural strengthening in Orygen’s activities.
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the First Nations Manager will:
- Contributing to the achievement of Orygen’s Statement of Commitment and strategic objectives with and through the First Nations team and the wider organisation as detailed in the Cultural Strengthening Plan
- Provide expertise and leadership to the Orygen Executive, managers and supervisors on cultural strengthening
- Provide strategic advice and lead the development of new First Nation initiatives across the organisation
- Working collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop sustainable approaches to building the cultural capacity of the organisation ensuring its operations are culturally safe and responsive
- Lead a small team and support them in their implementation of program goals and objectives
What you’ll need
You are passionate, energetic and determined to make a difference to health and wellbeing outcomes for young people. The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline including social work, psychology, youth work, community development or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with First Nations individuals, communities and organisations with a clear working understanding of the priorities and aspirations of First Nations young people and their communities with special focus on social and emotional wellbeing.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team and support them in their implementation of program goals and objectives and foster a positive workplace culture.
