About the organisation
UnitingWorld is an international aid organisation, working with partners in Asia, Africa and the Pacific to address the causes and consequences of poverty, injustice and violence.
We are a member of the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) and are accredited by the Australian government to access Australian Aid funds. We are an Agency of the Uniting Church in Australia.
About the role
An exciting opportunity is available for an International Programs Manager to join UnitingWorld. We currently have a 0.8-1.0 FTE, permanent position based in the Sydney CBD for someone who is passionate about emergency response and disaster preparedness through a theological approach.
As International Programs Manager, you will be a member of the Programs Team, and report to the Head of Programs.
You will have oversight of our emergency response work, primarily disaster preparedness and response through a theological approach, through Pacific faith-based organisations. You will support our overseas partners to deliver program objectives and play a leadership role in all aspects of managing the project cycle. You will nurture trust and mutual accountability with our partners, working to strengthen organisational capacity on both sides.
You’ll work within a diverse and dynamic Programs Team, contributing your expertise towards maintaining program effectiveness across UnitingWorld’s project portfolio. You will work collaboratively across the agency to support fundraising, grant applications and reporting as required.
We’re seeking highly capable, experienced development professionals, with tertiary qualifications, who have worked with complex, donor funded programs and have a strong understanding of program compliance.
You will have the opportunity to grow your networks across the sector and cultivate good relationships with UnitingWorld stakeholders such as DFAT, ACFID, the ACT Alliance and the Church Agencies Network (CAN).
We’re looking for someone with initiative, who can work independently, and is a great team player and problem solver too. You will need to travel regularly to the Pacific and/or Asia and Africa. Your background in the development sector will be vital, and any experience in working in Christian faith-based organisations will be an advantage.
