About the organisation
Uniting Communities is a progressive and inclusive not-for profit community services organisation working alongside more than 80,000 South Australians each year as they strive for bright futures and great lives.
As a leader in community services and with people at its heart, Uniting Communities contemporary and purpose-driven focus continues to evolve and adapt to the needs of the community, building upon its 120-year legacy in supporting people striving to overcome adversity and disadvantage.
With the impending retirement of our current Chair, we are currently seeking to appoint a new Board Chair to drive the next exciting chapter of the organisation over a 3-year term.
About the role
The Uniting Communities Board is committed to the provision of visionary leadership and effective governance to support the development and delivery of the organisation’s strategic plan. The Board works with the Executive team and senior leadership to harness resources, articulate priorities, and ensure the integrity and accountability of the organisation.
The role of Chair is integral in driving a collaborative and purpose-led Board that responds innovatively to the needs of the community and advocates for social change.
We are seeking a proven leader, capable of championing change and the ability to utilise the expertise of the Board and Executive team to drive outcomes with impact, under a united vision.
Contemporary knowledge of the human services sector and an understanding of the current and emerging service delivery models and practices is essential, as is prior experience with corporate governance and Board directorship. The Chair requires the ability to lead in an environment requiring agile responsiveness, whilst maintaining a purpose-led, long-term strategic focus that will drive success.
The role will be appointed on an initial 3-year term with the capacity for remuneration to be considered in recognition of the participation in and representation of Uniting Communities throughout the term.
As an organisation founded by the Methodist mission, the Uniting Communities constitution requires that the Board Chair be a member of a Christian denomination.
