VALID is an independent NFP organisation that has been at the forefront of advocating for people with a disability in Victoria for over thirty years. Created as an advocacy organisation bringing people together to transform disability services, empowering people with a disability to exercise their rights, its powerful mission is to protect and defend the human rights of people with an intellectual disability and champion their rights as citizens.
Well regarded within the disability sector and by key funders, VALID has developed a range of training tools, information and resources, and advocacy to help empower people with a disability and their families. Major activities encompass Individual Advocacy and Self Advocacy, and Community Development. VALID has key projects and a growing range of fee for service work.
About the role
– Top leadership role – Advocating for people with a disability – Drive the organisation to the next level Reporting to a recently restructured board, the CEO will drive the effective leadership, management, and business development of VALID, and take it through the next phase of its work with a strong voice across Victoria. Managing 30 staff, you will improve the structures and systems necessary to continue VALID’s vital advocacy work.
Main responsibilities include developing and driving strategy, representing VALID as a sector leader, building a sustainable organisation, engaging with key stakeholders, and ensuring effective financial management and regulatory compliance. For this pivotal role you will need experience in leading a comparable organisation with relevant qualifications, and a proven track record in implementing positive change.
