About the organisation
Myeloma Australia was formed in 1998 by a small number of driven people who discovered that a myeloma diagnosis was often slow and uncertain, and that reliable information and access to support was scarce.
It is the only myeloma specific not-for-profit organisation in the country. We exist to support, inform, empower and bring hope to people living with myeloma, their families, friends and health professionals through our nurse-led model of care. We also raise community awareness, provide funding for research and advocate for reimbursement of new therapies on the pharmaceutical benefits scheme.
About the role
In this position you will be accountable to the Board of MA for implementing its mission and vision and oversee activities within each of our departments (support services, nursing services, fundraising and advocacy).
You will have responsibility for the overall performance of MA and for keeping the Board informed of all events and circumstances which have, or may be likely to have, a material impact on the organisation.
As the newly appointed CEO you will:
- take full management oversight of MA;
- provide strong and clear leadership internally and externally;
- act and behave with trust and integrity;
- manage the day-to-day operations of MA, its people, and resources;
- implement the strategy, organisational structure, process, and systems that meet MA’s needs now and into the future.
You will be accountable for delivering:
- sustainable financial business performance;
- increased revenue derived from fundraising as a percentage of total revenue;
- good governance, direction, control, and management of MA;
- robust policies, strategies, directions, and plans (business and/or otherwise);
- transparency with the Board of events within, or which reasonably should be within, your knowledge or awareness, which may or do have a material impact on MA’s activities or well-being;
- regular communication with the Chairperson (as the lead representative of the Board) on all such matters
ABOUT YOU
To be successful you will have five (5) or more years’ experience as a CEO in the not for profit/charitable sector or be a senior corporate executive looking for a career change. With relevant tertiary qualifications, you will have strong presentation and strategic management skills and demonstrated experience in networking, negotiations, and relationship management.
As a confident and influential communicator, you will demonstrate values consistent with those of MA and have a strong focus on integrity and empathy while providing strong leadership that inspires and encourages a positive future for staff and the myeloma community.
Your existing relationships within Government, the pharmaceutical industry and health care system are highly desirable.
