The Consumers Health Forum of Australia (CHFCHF is the national peak body advocating on consumer health care issues. The CHF works to achieve safe, high quality, timely healthcare for all Australians, supported by accessible health information and systems. The CHF draws on consumer and community knowledge and experience to relentlessly drive innovation and improvements to the Australian health and human service system. CHF is the national consumer peak body representing a wide variety of consumer organisations and individuals with an interest in health care consumer affairs. Its membership is extensive and includes illness groups, disability groups, state peak health consumer organisations, professional, research and other health sector bodies. This diversity ensures the CHF has the capacity, credibility and authenticity to provide deep, well-informed consumer insights and perspectives to governments and other decision makers.

As Chief Executive Officer, Consumers Health Forum of Australia, reporting to the Board, you will be responsible for driving and implementing the overall strategic direction of the organisation, and continuing to build on the significant and central role played by CHF in influencing critical health consumer policy issues. You will operate effectively in a dynamic and shifting environment with the ability to identify and assess emerging issues. You will also play a pivotal role in liaising with and influencing government and other senior stakeholders to position CHF as a leader in the provision of evidence-based advice on health policies and practice. As a collaborative leader and skilled manager, you will oversee effective corporate governance, manage the day-to-day financial and business operations of the organisation and, as a key media spokesperson, represent and promote the organisation in a wide range of for a. This includes participation in a range of conferences and meetings, presenting and speaking on behalf of CHF and will involve regular travel.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

To be a strong contender for this important and challenging role, you will need to demonstrate a pragmatic combination of clear long-term vision with a results-driven approach that enhances the value of consumer participation to the healthcare debate. You will have extensive experience in guiding, developing and influencing health policy and program strategies. In addition to your strategic planning capacity you will demonstrate strong understanding of the diversity of CHF members’ health interests and the ability to engage and influence outcomes that have direct impact on health consumers. Your well-developed strategic capacity will be complemented by your high-level communications skills and ability to distil often complex information into accessible messages for a wide range of stakeholders.
