The Organisation

The Disability Resources Centre (DRC) is a membership-driven organisation that provides professional advocacy services to adults with physical, sensory, intellectual, neurological, psychosocial and/or multiple disabilities living in metropolitan Melbourne.  DRC is an individual advocacy and campaigning organisation run by and for people with lived experience of disability, working to ensure that Victorians with disabilities enjoy equal rights and opportunities.  DRC also focuses on ongoing systemic advocacy campaigns and the development of a range of innovative pilot projects.

The Role
  
Reporting into the committee management and managing a dedicated team of seven staff, you will provide strategic leadership to the overall operations, with a focus on increasing the organisation’s impact now and in the years to come.  You’ll lead, manage and motivate the team to continually strive to deliver on innovative development strategies to support the growth of existing professional advocacy services, new pilot projects and campaigns.

 Additionally, you will:

  • Oversee HR and office management
  • Provide leadership support to the individual advocacy program
  • Establish and strengthen stakeholder relationships – community, government, philanthropic, corporate
  • Oversee service agreements and accreditation audits and manage reporting requirements
  • Coordinate and oversee the development of grant & funding proposals
  • Support the committee to meet governance responsibilities & organisational objectives

Skills Required

You have executive management experience from within the not for profit sector, a hands on approach, well developed and innovative business acumen and a true commitment to advocating for the disability sector. You bring strategic leadership together with the experience to oversee a broad range of operations across finance, governance, management, reporting and administration.

As the DRC is an organisation run by people with disabilities, we welcome applications from individuals who self-identify as a person with a disability or have lived experience.  Experience from within the disability advocacy sector is also favourable.
