About the role

 

Guardianship Manager – NSW Trustee & Guardian (internally known as Regional Manager)

  • Ongoing vacancy. 35 hours per week.
  • Location: Wollongong. Flexible working options subject to negotiation
  • Clerk Grade 9/10. Base salary ($113, 343 pa – $124,901 pa) plus super and annual leave loading.

 

About the team

The Public Guardian, a division of NSW Trustee & Guardian, promotes the rights and interests of people with disability through the practice of guardianship, advocacy and education. The Public Guardian can be appointed by a court or tribunal to make health and lifestyle decisions for people who are unable to live on their own, or with support.

These include decisions such as where a person might live, their medical and dental treatment, health care, and other services. It also provides information and support to private and enduring guardians, service providers and the wider community.

 

About the role

The Regional Manager is responsible for managing and leading a guardianship team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing action plans submitted by Principal Guardians and ensuring decisions made by the team are aligned to the principles of the Guardianship Act 1987 (NSW). 

You will act as a point of contact between the senior leadership team and your regional team and ensure that you support the organisation’s direction and strategic plan. Your expertise will enable you to provide advice and recommendations to the NSW Public Guardian on complex and contentious matters to support effective decision-making. As a Regional Manager, you will also manage the regional team budget within approved financial parameters

About you

You are encouraged to apply if you:

  • Have a demonstrated knowledge of guardianship practice or similar industry.
  • Are passionate about providing effective, efficient and timely support and advocacy to the people we represent.
  • Are a strategic thinker, you will be confident in contributing to the development, review and implementation of policies, procedures, and quality assurance systems to improve service delivery.
  • Have leadership experience to manage the guardianship team and provide day-to-day advice and support
  • Possess a thorough understanding of legislation: Guardianship Act 1987 (NSW), the Mental Health Act 2007 (NSW), the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 (Cth) and the Aged Care Act 1997 (Cth)

 

Essential requirements  

  • Demonstrated leadership skills for the delivery of services in a complex customer environment.
  • Degree or equivalent experience in social, health, behavioural sciences or related discipline.
  • Sound strategic thinking capacity, management and administrative skills.
  • Available to travel throughout NSW and to undertake after hours work on a rotational basis.
