Grattan Institute produces high-quality public policy recommendations for Australia’s future. Since they were established in 2008, their independent research has helped shape the Australian policy conversation, from childcare to the COVID-19 response. They are independent, taking the side of the public interest rather than interest groups, and receive no ongoing government funding and reject commissioned work to ensure independence. The Grattan Institute are rigorous in obtaining the best evidence from their own data analysis and from published work, and practical in identifying what governments should do to improve the lives of all Australians.
Since 2008, Grattan Institute’s important work has helped shape the Australian policy conversation across a broad range of programs. This includes budget policy, climate change, COVID-19 response, economic growth, education, energy, equity, government and public integrity, health and aged care, housing, migration and labour markets, retirement incomes, tax reform, transport and cities.
Working closely with the CEO, senior leadership team and Board, the Head of Philanthropy will lead Grattan Institute’s philanthropy strategy. Building on the existing foundation of support, you will implement the fundraising strategy to engage, secure and sustain significant philanthropic investment. You will build the case for support, and manage donor journeys from prospect research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, along with streamlined systems and processes to underpin best practice. Effective management of relationships, diverse stakeholders, change agendas and budgets will be important, as well as exploring, connecting, and securing opportunities.
You will have proven success in securing philanthropic investment and multi-year pledges for complex projects, both directly making ‘the ask’, and through leveraging networks and the influence of others. Excellent communication and influencing skills to confidently present opportunities with detailed research, data, evidence and proposals is essential, together with compelling story-telling to effectively connect the heads and hearts of decision makers to support ideas, commit funds and partner with Grattan Institute.
Commercial acumen, a growth mindset, analytical skills, strategic thinking, project management and tactical relationship fundraising expertise is important, together with a genuine interest in research, advocacy, policy and systems change. Current knowledge of the philanthropic landscape in Australia, and relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Fundraising (CFRE) or Social Impact is required.
APPLY NOW if you have proven success in building relationships to maximise philanthropic support, commercial and political acumen, together with the desire to change the nation – for good.
Gembridge is proud to partner with Grattan Institute.
