About the organisation
The Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA/Agency) is an Australian Government statutory agency charged with promoting and improving gender equality in Australian workplaces. Their vision is for all people, irrespective of gender, to be equally represented, valued and rewarded in the workplace.
Historically, WGEA has facilitated reporting and provided valuable tools and resources to Australian employers to support their intentions for gender equality in the workplace. A new strategy has been developed to influence a substantial shift within WGEA to move from being a promoter of gender equality to being a proactive driver of change. WGEA will seek to develop deeper engagement with Australian employers to help build their capacity to drive action on gender equality, including setting targets for improvement, bridging the action gap and becoming an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality.
To accelerate progress, WGEA is establishing a new team to lead program reform and work directly with employers to assist them in identifying areas of opportunity and providing guidance and advice.
