About the organisation

Organisation Name : NPY Women's Council

Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.

At its core NPY Women’s Council is about family and community – walytja. Our purpose is to work with women, children and their families of the Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara region in central Australia. Our role is to work side by side and help increase their capacity to lead safe and healthy lives with improved life choices.

About the role

People of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent are encouraged to apply.

  • Relocation Assistance provided
  • Permanent full time
  • Three positions vacant – Amata, Pukatja & Mutitjulu/Imanpa

Walytjapiti means full family, group or gathering of relations. Strength, culture and land are also implicit in the word. The Walytjapiti team deliver trauma informed therapeutic case management with families across nine remote communities in the Northern Territory, APY and NG lands.

Walytjapiti’s vision is for Anangu families to remain healthy and positive about their future by living in strong and independent communities that have increased socio-economic equality, children attend school and adults are meaningfully engaged.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are now recruiting for Case Managers to become part of the Child and Family Wellbeing Service. These positions are based remotely, servicing either Mutitjulu/Imanpa, Pukatja or Amata (NPY Lands).

If successful, you will work with families and children who are at risk of child protection intervention, working to support and strengthen families in order for children to remain safe, happy and protected in their families and communities.

You will have a background in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Community Development and/or relevant experience.

This is a unique chance to work for an organisation that takes a grassroots approach to community development. You will have the privilege of working closely alongside Anangu families and communities and get to experience an amazing landscape and part of the world. This is an extraordinary opportunity to learn about yourself, another culture and grow professionally at the same time.

You will receive a comprehensive orientation program as well as best practice supervision and professional development that includes vicarious trauma, case management and four-wheel drive training. We also provide critical incident debriefing and a range of counselling services to support you.

We understand what it takes to live and work remotely, especially if you are relocating from interstate. That’s why we offer relocation assistance and offer two weeks paid accommodation upon arriving in Alice Springs. We also have above award salaries with an additional $6,375 in salary packing benefits and a retention bonus of $1,056. Not to mention that by living and working in one of our remote communities, you can save up to $25,000 a year on living expenses. In addition to this, you will receive 30 days of annual leave, 7 days of additional leave and 15 days of personal leave (to care for you and your family).
