The Homes for Families (H4F) program provides support to families with children experiencing homelessness who were residing in emergency accommodation due to the pandemic with access to stable medium- and long-term housing and integrated support packages.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced full-time Mental Health/AOD Clinician to respond to a range of co-occurring issues, with a focus on mental health and substance use, experienced by families recently entering transitional housing until December 2023.

The role will assess and determine appropriate interventions for complex co-occurring issues related to mental health and AOD, while working within a wider consortium created to support families to be successful in maintaining housing and meeting personal health goals.

What you’ll be doing

As a Clinician – Child & Family (H4F) you will be responsible for:

  • responding to the needs of families experiencing homelessness,
  • providing assessment, counselling and support to enable the ability of children and young people to recover from the effects of abuse, family violence, trauma and loss,
  • collaborating with the team and key stakeholders involved in the homes for families consortium to achieve best outcomes for clients,
  • complete all organisational accountability and reporting requirements in an accurate and timely manner.

The role will deliver services via outreach, telehealth and the office using a trauma informed and family focussed lens.

 

Who you’ll be working with

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will work closely with other Therapeutic Specialists and partner agencies, including Anglicare, The Family Services Provider and other EACH support services, to achieve positive housing and health outcomes for clients across Southern Melbourne.

The team works with very high levels of flexibility, trust, networking, and collaboration, and members of the team will have strengths in these areas to engage with clients in the community.

 

Who we are looking for

Along with your passion for helping others, you will:

  • have a tertiary qualification in AOD, social work, psychology, occupational therapy or other relevant discipline/profession,
  • have demonstrated experience in working therapeutically with people in the context mental health and AOD,
  • have an ability to work systemically from a family and housing perspective,
  • be an effective communicator and ability to develop and nurture positive relationships,
  • ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment which works towards reaching common program and organisational goals,
  • have a demonstrated ability to complete administrative tasks to the required standard and detail to meet quality and reporting requirements,
  • have membership to appropriate professional bodies e.g APHRA or AASW would be highly desirable.
