Embarking on our five year strategy, we have a newly created opportunity for a talented, accomplished, and adept Senior Leader to develop and drive our marketing strategies and operations.

About our role

Our Philanthropy Group Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership to the philanthropy team to grow and maximise fundraising, enabling The Smith Family to achieve the income targets required to fulfil our organisational goals. The key responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead, mentor, and coach the Philanthropy team to deliver on strategy and targets
  • Support the Head of Fundraising to develop and deliver annual fundraising and philanthropy strategies and plans across multiple channels to drive income from corporate partnerships, major donors, trusts & foundations, events and community fundraising
  • Develop and implement existing and new supporter centric campaigns and activity, and explore new channels and products to diversify and grow fundraising income
  • Streamline existing initiatives and activities to improve efficiency and costs
  • Manage philanthropy initiatives and events to ensure achievement of a well-rounded events calendar that delivers maximum financial, branding and awareness benefits
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to deliver on the Fundraising strategy and ensure all supporters are appropriately targeted and stewarded
  • Pitch proposals and support stewardship of key partners and supporters as required
  • Set and take responsibility for the overall annual budget cycle for the marketing team and complete periodic forecasts and variance reports as required

About you

As an experienced Philanthropy Lead, you’ll bring exceptional, demonstrated knowledge of major gift and philanthropic fundraising, preferably within the non-profit sector with a track record of consistently meeting fundraising targets. You will also bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in business, marketing, or related field
  • Solid experience (ideally 10 + years) in marketing, fundraising, sales, business development, account management or closely related field
  • Demonstrated and proven success in achieving sizable income targets
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-skilled, diverse and geographically distributed teams at a senior level
  • Expertise in developing, nurturing and managing key stakeholder relationships
  • Track record of building public profile for an organisation
  • Natural people leadership, developing and coaching successful teams
  • Excellent leadership and management capability
  • Networking, collaboration, consultation and relationship management skills
  • Outstanding influencing, interpersonal and communications skills
