The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is Australia’s only public hospital solely dedicated to cancer and one of an elite group of hospitals worldwide to have its own integrated cancer research program and laboratories. The Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation is the fundraising arm of Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Fundraising plays a crucial role in advancing cancer research at Peter Mac with funds raised accelerating the search for cancer cures.

Reporting to the Senior Philanthropy Manager, the Philanthropy Research & Administration Coordinator provides direct prospect research services to and for the senior fundraisers and leadership and works closely with the philanthropy team as a partner in helping the team achieve its fundraising goals through prospect identification, the creation of profiles, meeting briefings and analysis.

In this important and convening role, you will liaise with key internal stakeholders (including Peter Mac clinicians, researchers, and the grants team) in the project identification and philanthropic match potential. You will be responsible for gathering project information, reporting, tied gift reconciliation and acquittal administration; all of which helps to optimise the team’s philanthropic submission and reporting outcomes.

The Philanthropy Research & Administration Coordinator also provides administrative support to the Philanthropy team (including meeting agendas and papers, event invitations and proposals) and manages the project tracking, financial reporting, and prospect information in the donor database (Raiser’s Edge).


About YOU

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and employ proactive prospecting methodologies, utilising both in-house data and outside vendor research resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop in-depth research profiles and briefings for high value prospects and donors, while maintaining a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and security.
  • Strong ability to maintain comprehensive records of all research undertaken within the database (Raiser’s Edge experience is desirable).
  • Experience in managing and reconciling project submission budgets and acquittals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise and build trust with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear and concise reports and insights.
  • An enthusiastic self-starter, self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple projects and work in a deadline driven environment.
  • Initiative, sound judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills (particularly Excel).
