The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is Australia’s only public hospital solely dedicated to cancer and one of an elite group of hospitals worldwide to have its own integrated cancer research program and laboratories. Fundraising plays a crucial role in advancing cancer research at Peter Mac with funds raised accelerating the search for new cancer cures.

Reporting to the Philanthropy & Fundraising Director and leading a small team, this integral role will develop and execute the Major Gift and Trusts & Foundation programs to achieve sustainable income growth. The position will be responsible for research, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgement and stewardship of philanthropic donors and prospects to maximise their giving and retention levels. The Senior Fundraising Manager will provide expertise and leadership to the Philanthropy team to build, coordinate and oversee an efficient and ongoing prospect pipeline of HNW individuals and philanthropic Trusts and Foundations. You will plan and implement ‘moves management’ strategies and processes and build positive relationships to enable progression of prospects and donors through the solicitation cycle. This hands-on role will directly manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, and present complex opportunities (‘The Ask’) to funders to partner with Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre on strategic and innovative projects, along with leading others in the team to achieve income targets. This role will engage with diverse internal and external stakeholders including Funders, Board, Committee members and Researchers.

You will be a proven leader of a sophisticated major gifts program and have a collaborative approach to build internal capacity and positive team culture. Excellent story-telling, influencing, problem solving, people leadership and project management skills is required, as well as sound communication skills to convey outcomes, evidence, learnings and impact. A practical understanding of the systems that underpin best practice fundraising including acquittals, moves management, prospect research, reporting and database (Raiser’s Edge) is essential. FIA Membership and/or CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) is highly regarded.
