Organisation Name : St Merkorious Charity Association Inc.

All we do at St Merkorious Charity is aimed at striking poverty at its root. We’re a DGR Charity registered with the ACNC, founded in 2013 to serve the most vulnerable in our local communities. Our food relief services serves more than 3000 meals a week to struggling families around Sydney experiencing food insecurity, and we’re looking to expand our service to other community supports like housing, education and training.

About the role

As a social worker, you will provide clients direly in need by connecting them to the support necessary to enable improvement in life. This job provides you with flexible hours on a part-time basis, with opportunities to extend employment at the end of contract.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide community support services, such as assisting clients with social work and referrals, to clients with multiple complex needs, including those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, rough sleepers, and/or living with mental health, alcohol and other drug issues
  • Utilise reporting tools for St Merkorious to capture social impact data
  • Provide support to St Merkorious staff and volunteers as necessary
  • Drive to different project locations as necessary

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for a passionate, experienced social worker. At least 5 years of social work experience in the Not-For-Profit sector will be highly regarded.

Ideally, you…

  • Are compassionate, kind, and driven to help your community
  • Can compartmentalise, multitask and prioritise tasks
  • Have experience in assessing budgets and measuring social impact
  • Have knowledge of industry best practices
  • Can use Microsoft Office, and familiar with CRM
  • Can work in virtual teams
  • Are able to work flexibly in teams or alone
  • Are a strong communicator, including with vulnerable communities.

Qualification requirements:

  • A Bachelors or higher degree in a related discipline with demonstrated experience in working with Not-for-Profits or
  • A certification in a related discipline with demonstrated experience and good references in relation to role duties.
    • Related disciplines include Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Health, Education, Sociology, Counselling
  • Working With Children’s Check
  • Valid NSW Driver’s License
