About the organisation
All we do at St Merkorious Charity is aimed at striking poverty at its root. We’re a DGR Charity registered with the ACNC, founded in 2013 to serve the most vulnerable in our local communities. Our food relief services provide more than 3000 meals a week to struggling families around Sydney experiencing food insecurity, and our charity is always growing and looking for opportunities to help more people in suffering from food insecurity by delivering healthy and nutritious food, as well as saving food from local supermarkets and shops from landfill.
About the role
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Chef/Cook who has the passion for food, creative, the ability to multitask and result focused. The role is responsible for cooking & managing kitchen operations.
Skills include:
- Ability to cook versatile menus
- Ability to control and direct the food preparation and production process and all other relevant activities
- Overseeing the receiving and delivery of goods.
- Induction and training of volunteers.
- Great interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Good English-speaking skills.
- The successful candidate will have:
- Certificate in Safe Food Handling or equivalent.
- Possession of a Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
- Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
- Proven experience as a Chef/Cook
- Demonstrated ability to meet of the NSW Health & Food Safety requirements.
- Demonstrated communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to operate Commercial kitchen equipment
