About the role

The Financial Accountant is a key member of the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Foundation’s Finance Team, which is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the Foundation.  The position works closely with the Finance Team to coordinate all regular functions and the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the preparation of reporting and longer-range planning.

 

The position is responsible for:

  • Manage the distributions of funds to RCH monthly
  • Coordinate and prepare regular reporting including tied funds
  • Manage and coordinate intercompany transactions with RCH
  • Manage the fixed asset register
  • Manage and coordinate rental income and outgoings
  • Assist with monthly Executive and Board reporting
  • Assist with the preparation on budgets and forecasts
  • Assistance in other financial activities, including maintaining of the general ledger

 

To be successful: 

  • Tertiary accounting qualifications plus professional certification in Accounting and a minimum four years’ experience in a similar role with extensive budget experience
  • Clear understanding of and personal commitment to the mission and values of the Foundation
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work under own initiative
  • Effective time management and problem-solving abilities and working to strict deadlines and initiative and a pro-activeness to workload
  • High level of maturity and ability to exercise discretion in dealing with sensitive information
