The NTEU (NSW) is seeking to employ two Industrial Officers at its NSW Division Office in Surry Hills – one is a full-time ongoing position, and the other is a fixed-term contract position, at full-time, for two years. The positions, whilst based in Sydney, do require travel to regional universities in NSW.

The NTEU is a federally registered union with coverage of academic and general staff in higher education. The NTEU (NSW) is responsible for workers in all NSW universities and their associated student organisations, research institutes and companies.

DUTIES INCLUDE

Negotiating local enterprise collective agreements; advocacy before industrial tribunals; negotiating with higher education managements on personal cases and disputes; recruitment; providing industrial advice and co-ordinating campaigns.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent; demonstrated negotiating, advocacy and campaign skills; commitment to union principles.

DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES

Knowledge of the higher education industry; experience in the trade union movement; demonstrated commitment to and understanding of principles of organising and evidence of experience in their application; basic word processing; electronic communication skills and driver’s licence.

SALARY

Salary range is as per NTEU National Staff Agreement Level 6/7 ($98,223 – $123,062 per annum, plus 17% superannuation).
