About the organisation
Anglicare NSW South, NSW West & ACT (Anglicare) provides a broad range of services across a large footprint and in diverse locations that include metropolitan areas, regional towns and small rural communities. Anglicare is the principal social welfare provider for the Anglican Dioceses of Canberra-Goulburn, Bathurst and Riverina. It has been supporting and caring for children, young people, older people and families for over 90 years.
Anglicare’s purpose is to alleviate poverty and suffering, by providing integrated and innovative care; and to deliver programs and services to reduce disadvantage amongst vulnerable and at-risk children, at-risk young people, seniors and people with a disability. A trauma-informed model of care underpins the operations of Anglicare and the services it provides.
In January 2021, Jeremy and the Board commenced the new “Survive and Thrive” strategic plan focusing on four social impact areas and encouraging social innovation to expand Anglicare’s services to support vulnerable Australians. This includes developing trauma-informed models of care to support those most at risk of disadvantage and poverty, including programs aimed at ensuring children are prevented from experiencing a lifetime of disadvantage and poverty; and providing ongoing support to communities, such as those impacted by the 2019/20 Black Summer bushfires.
