The Bayside Glen Eira Kingston Local Learning & Employment Network (BGKLLEN), located in Cheltenham, is a small incorporated organisation that believes good things happen when communities invest in their young people.

BGKLLEN creates and facilitates strategic, sustainable partnerships that help build the capacity of young people to attend education, build positive relationships with educators and industry and develop the skills they require to move on successfully to the next stage of their life.

BGKLLEN works with all secondary schools across Bayside, Glen Eira and Kingston, tertiary educators and training providers, business and industry, and community agencies.

 

About the role

THE POSITION DUTIES ARE:

  • Payroll
  • Use Xero to manage the LLEN’s finance records and reporting and categories as per government requirements
  • Preparation of ABA Files 
  • Accurately determine and prepare BAS, IAS, FBT, Work Summaries and any other ATO documentation
  • Liaise with the ATO via the BAS Portal as needed
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements
  • Preparation of financial documents required for annual audit and answer questions asked by the auditor
  • Check payment records, BPAY, invoices and credit card expenditure records
  • Ensure all financial transactions are carried out following the organisations governance rules.
  • Prepare end of month financial statements the financial reports should include the Operating Statement (including budget), Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement, Payments summary, Receipts summary and monthly general journal report for the Treasurer.
  • Provide financial advice and any other reporting functions as requested by the Committee of Management (Board) or Chief Executive Officer

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Experienced Bookkeeper/Accountant/BAS Agent 
  • Proficient in XERO
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to show initiative and work independently to meet deadlines
  • Experience with salary packaging desirable

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

The successful applicant will sub-contract their services to us. The hourly rate is between $70 – $85 an hour depending on skills and experience. Typically, the amount of work per month is around 6-10 hours.

We are located in Cheltenham candidates are expected to work from home.
