About the organisation

Organisation Name : Siblings Australia

Siblings Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to support siblings of people with disability. Its mission statement is Siblings: Acknowledged, Connected, Resilient.  Siblings Australia has an exciting opportunity for a purpose-driven leader who is ready to hit the ground running and take the next step in their career.

Since its establishment by current CEO and Founder, Kate Strohm, in 1999, Siblings Australia has developed a national and international reputation for its work with families and professionals.  This has included presenting workshops/resources/online supports for siblings, parents and providers to improve the capacity of siblings to manage any life and family challenges, conducting research, and providing public advocacy to improve understanding of the importance of siblings.

About the role

The organisation is now in a transition phase and seeking a progressive, entrepreneurial and transformational leader.  With a small team, a supportive Board and high quality services, there is a significant opportunity to lead Siblings Australia into its next phase of growth, including a focus on financial sustainability, stakeholder engagement, advocacy and service provision.

Siblings Australia is funded by an NDIS Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) grant for a ‘Stronger Siblings: Stronger Families’ project until June 2024, which has enabled the organisation to expand its offerings around Australia.  An opportunity now exists for a new Chief Executive to build on what has been developed over many years and steer the organisation into the future.

The future Chief Executive will be a high-level strategic thinker with exceptional planning skills who leads by example and is ethical and professional in all matters.  The appointee will be commercially aware with a strong eye for entrepreneurial opportunities and offer authenticity, warmth, empathy and good humour to the Siblings mission.  A preparedness to roll up sleeves when needed will be important as will be an unwavering commitment to the principles of full inclusion for people with disability and to supporting their siblings and wider family.

Key result areas for the role include strategic and business planning for sustainability, development of high quality resources and services for both families and professionals, human resource and stakeholder management, corporate governance, financial and risk management and strong advocacy at both government and community levels.

An appropriate remuneration package with salary packaging options and flexible working arrangements will be on offer to attract a correctly motivated individual for this national role based in Adelaide.  Make an enquiry to explore leading this most worthy social enterprise.
