In the context of post-pandemic recovery, there is an important opportunity to leverage VicHealth’s capabilities to strengthen partnerships with our local government and other place-based sector partners.

Through the VicHealth Local Government Partnership, we are supporting Victorian councils to create meaningful change within their communities. The VLGP forms a core component of our Place-based Approach.

Leading a team of dedicated professionals, the new position of Manager, Place-based Approaches will report directly to the Executive Lead, Policy, Strategy & Impact, and will work strategically by further developing and implementing VicHealth’s place-based approach and related partnerships and programs.

We’re looking for a candidate who demonstrates industry recognised leadership, teamwork, and stakeholder relationship management experience.

You’ll thrive in this exciting and rare management level opportunity by fully utilising your highly developed strategic direction and decision making experience.

You’ll bring excellent organisational, prioritisation and time management skills to manage in a busy and challenging environment. You’ll be a great problem solver, who can demonstrate how you take a whole-of-system view.

Agility, initiative, and the ability work collaboratively as part of the Policy, Strategy & Impact Group, and broader VicHealth leadership teams will be key strengths. Finally, you will also be very comfortable with financial and budget management.

Classification: VicHealth Grade E
Remuneration: $136,633-$147,072 (plus superannuation and other benefits)

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Relevant tertiary or post graduate qualifications
  • Extensive experience in the development and delivery of place-based approaches will be highly valued
  • Strong understanding of the health promotion sector with experience in working in or with local government will be highly valued
  • Experience in strategically developing innovative programs for impact
  • Strong understanding of the social determinants of health and health promotion principles
  • High level people management skills, including interpersonal, communication, motivation, negotiation and leadership skills, and performance management
  • Impressive experience working in fields related to Public Health, or Health Promotion research or programs
  • Renowned communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills
    Ability to work with multiple systems, project monitoring and reporting.
