About the role
- Support the delivery of the Zoos Victoria Accessibility and Inclusion program
- Newly created position
- Fixed term position for 3 years
- Part-time or full-time position
- Based at Zoos Victoria’s Corporate Office in Parkville with some work from home flexibility
- Salary – Band 4, starting from $80,000 per annum + 10.5% superannuation
The Access and Inclusion Coordinator provides strategic input, tools, advice, training and support for the delivery of the Zoos Victoria (ZV) Accessibility and Inclusion program across both staff and volunteers. The role will enable ZV to better engage with our visitor and the community in diverse, accessible and inclusive ways that align with our values of Always Compassionate, Always Inclusive and Always Optimistic.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing strategic advice on access and inclusion (A & I) matters and embedding a culture of diversity and inclusion across the organisation with a focus on people with a disability
- Assessing the organisations level of A&I maturity and expertise, including current commitments and initiatives, with a view to refining and re-setting plans if required
- Developing, analysing, and reviewing A&I metrics and reporting mechanisms to capture A&I data and trends
The ideal candidate will have:
- A tertiary qualification in disability, community development or similar would be an advantage.
- A person with lived experience will be highly regarded
- A high level of experience and success in designing and implementing access and inclusion programs including policy frameworks, setting strategic directions, developing guidelines and evaluation tools.
- A solid understanding of barriers and enablers to accessibility and inclusion in a zoo environment, and community based programs for people with disabilities and other diverse community groups is essential.
- A high level of expertise in advising managers and operational staff on matters relating to community inclusion of people from diverse and/or disadvantaged backgrounds.
