Working closely with the CEO, Policy Team, and Online and Social Media Coordinator, the Community Organiser will facilitate the full participation, equality of opportunity, and equality of citizenship of people with physical disabilities across NSW through expanding and building the PDCN community and strategic networks.
Duties to include:
- Work with the CEO and PGRM to develop a Community and Engagement Strategy
- Identify and actively pursue opportunities to meet targets in line with the Community Engagement Strategy
- Lead the development of SMART campaign objectives on issues of importance to the NSW disability community and run, monitor and evaluate campaigns
- Work with the Social and Online Media Officer to enhance engagement with PDCN’s existing online and social media
- Assist in the maintenance and development of PDCN promotional resources, including targeted resources
- Design and execute accessible community engagement events, including expos, with support from PDCN staff, to promote PDCN and the interests of the disability community
- Work towards expanding and strengthening the PDCN disability community using a variety of engagement tools
- Develop and maintain relationships with relevant disability sector organisations and external stakeholders, e.g., LGAs, to enhance engagement with diverse cohorts across the NSW physical disability community
- Contribute to content across PDCN’s newsletters and other publications
- Conduct annual feedback surveys with PDCN members to gather membership and public position/understanding on PDCN areas of interest
- Provide monthly reports on outputs; develop a report detailing outcomes for the year for PDCN Annual Report
- Assist in the coordination of PDCN events, such as Annual General Meetings and events for the International Day for People with Disability
- Provide input into PDCN planning, development and delivery of projects
- Provide support to the PDCN Policy team across member consultations as required
- Assist with general office tasks as required (phone support/enquiries)

Selection Criteria
- At least 2 years’ experience in an equivalent role
- Demonstrated understanding of community organizing processes, concepts, and development theories (this may include formal training or practical experience)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level interpersonal skills, including the capacity to connect with people with diverse backgrounds and experiences
- Demonstrated ability to build, and sustain relationships, with key stakeholders
- Demonstrated high level organisational skills, including the capacity to prioritise, meet deadlines and balance multiple tasks at once
- Capacity to show initiative, and work independently
- Demonstrated ability to co-ordinate community events
- Demonstrated ability to run, monitor, and evaluate campaigns
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice
- The ability to travel within NSW at times to undertake role requirements
Desirable
- Lived experience of physical disability is highly considered for this role
- Prior experience working for, and alongside the physical disability community
- Experience in the use of online and social media tools
Other Requirements
- NSW Police Check, Working with Children Check, COVID 19 Vaccination
- Current driver’s licence (preferred)
