About the organisation
The Song Room is an arts education organisation that levels the learning playing field for children experiencing disadvantage through an impactful, sustainable and scalable approach to Arts Learning. We work in partnerships with schools and communities across Australia to improve student outcomes and school engagement.
Independent research has demonstrated that The Song Room’s programs lift the academic performance, school attendance, and social-emotional wellbeing of Australian school children. In working for The Song Room, you directly contribute to addressing the educational equity gap for some of Australia’s most disadvantaged young people and you will be a part of the associate Teaching Artist workforce.
About the role
The Song Room is looking for engaging and experienced Teaching Artists in all art forms (Dance/Music/Drama/Media Arts/Visual Arts) to work with us in 2023 across a number of arts education programs in Victoria and Nationally. Our programs work in partnership with schools and communities to transform student outcomes and engagement and generally run during school hours across week days in school terms. Transformational Learning through Creativity in Geelong
The Song Room are looking for Teaching Artists in Music to work with us in the Geelong Region, one or two days per week, in Semester 1 and 2 2023. As well as working with students to develop their arts knowledge and skills, Teaching Artists will also work with teachers to develop their capacity and confidence to embed arts learning into their professional practice. VIT registration (not mandatory) and/or vocational teaching experience with Primary School students is preferred.
Victorian Mental Health Menu
The Song Room are looking for experienced Teaching Artists and Wellbeing Experts in all art forms to deliver a weekly program over 10 weeks focussing on Social and Emotional Learning to support student wellbeing. Areas required: Beulah, Talbot and Bendigo, other rural areas of Victoria.
DUET: Music Teacher Mentoring Program
The Song Room are looking for Teaching Artist Mentors in Music to deliver a professional learning program for teachers in primary schools throughout Victoria, as part of the DUET Music Teacher Mentoring Program, run in collaboration with the Department of Education during Term 2 and 3. Applicants must have experience in education and mentoring as well as in facilitating classroom music programs with primary-aged students. VIT registration is strongly preferred for the DUET program. Areas required: Geelong, Swan Hill, Rutherglen, Traralgon, Mirboo North, Orbost, Marlo and Portland.
National
Expressions of interest are sought for Teaching Artists with education and /or vocational training and experience in arts across Northern Territory, Western Australia and Queensland for up and coming contracts in schools.
