Community Campaigner

The Role

Does encouraging your mob to raise awareness and support First Nations people to have a powerful voice in the fight for climate justice call to you?

Reporting to the Campaign Director, in this role you will influence, motivate and inspire community to share the Seed story and support highly impactful campaigns that create change for climate justice.

You will:

• Use a variety of platforms, including public speaking at events and workshops and across social media to engage with community and drive campaign messaging
• Engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to further build and deepen connections
• Support young people to lead the generational wide movement to solve the climate crisis
• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to manage and deliver in person and online events
• Network with donors, community groups, schools and universities
• Write campaign plans and reports

Skills Required

You are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who wants to create change in community and protect country. 
  
You are passionate about First Nations justice issues and the climate movement and you have:

• Experience working and building relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities
• Previously been involved in or with campaigning or advocacy to create change
• Capability to adapt quickly and meet deadlines
• Ability to travel on short notice

The Organisation

Seed is Australia’s first Indigenous Youth Climate Network, building a movement led by and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to protect country, culture and communities from the causes and impacts of climate change. 

Seed provide platforms for Indigenous young people to build their skills, confidence and networks to lead action on climate justice campaigns in their communities. Since launching in 2014, Seed has rapidly grown to be a powerful, national grassroots network of volunteers across the country. They elevate the voices of First Nations people to lead solutions to the climate crisis and to create change.

Formal education and qualifications matter less than experience, excellence, initiative and drive.
