About us
Abound Communities is a charity providing accommodation and care for older Victorians in need. We were founded in 1869 as The Old Colonists’ Association of Victoria and began our life on an acreage of land in Fitzroy North gifted by the State government. Today we care for 500 older Victorians across four sites including an 81 bed residential aged care facility. Our continuum of care model enables our residents to transition through independent living, assisted living and aged care, as their care needs change, all under the Abound Communities umbrella.
An ageing population, the urgent need for more affordable housing and the focus on aged care bring many challenges but equally opportunities. We have recently completed two major building developments providing additional housing for 100 elderly Victorians. We are now broadening our service offering with the provision of Home Care services, initially to our own residents but with the plan to ultimately expand into the broader community. We are seeking opportunities to move beyond our four villages. To provide more affordable housing for older Victorians in need.
