About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity to have a positive impact on community, and to use your organisation, planning and people skills to help the University of Melbourne to collaborate with and contribute to culturally and socio-economically diverse communities. You will have the chance to cultivate relationships with diverse stakeholders and partners and deliver programs in collaboration with external partners and University colleagues to create sustained and shared benefits. This role is vital in building an inclusive and thriving University community which is connected to and embedded in the communities that we are a part of.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Proactively lead, manage and deliver strategic and diverse community partnerships, activities, and events that build strong relations and connections between the university and the communities we serve.
- Build strong relations with local communities to understand opportunities, co-convene and facilitate community-led engagement initiatives that leverage the University’s academic purpose.
- Build awareness of and create opportunities to study, work and collaborate, contributing to demystifying and opening up the university.
- Co-design and deliver sustainable programs that are creative, participatory and attract resources and investment from multiple stakeholders and partners.
Who we are looking for
Do you have outstanding planning, organisation and practical delivery skills? Are you a natural people person, with a network of relationships and connections in Melbourne, including the neighbourhoods of Parkville, Carlton, North Melbourne? This role will suit someone who has a flair for writing reports and proposals, and who is keen to learn and collaborate in a constantly changing environment. You will also have:
- A degree, with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Demonstrated capacity and experience to develop and sustain a strong network of community relationships, including enabling engagement and partnerships at a higher educational institution and/or industry, government or public/community sector organisation.
- Solid experience working in/with community organisations and an understanding of the policy and operational context of the community sector.
- Experience working with culturally diverse community organisations and groups with cultural sensitivity and understanding.
- Experience in strategic program management and delivery with a strong focus on co-creation, co-design and co-production, including managing multiple programs, prioritise and deliver outcomes.

We support the University’s academic purpose, serve the community within and beyond our campuses, support transformative mutually beneficial outcomes and work closely with Indigenous colleagues and communities.
The Department sits within the Global, Culture and Engagement portfolio of Chancellery at the University of Melbourne . The Portfolio has overall responsibility focusing on the University’s approach to and engagement with stakeholders, partners, government, and community, both locally and globally.
