About the organisation
The MAV is a membership-driven association. Through our programs and services, we aim to promote the importance of mathematics to society. Our association has over 1700 members from all sectors of maths education and has been an active not-for-profit professional association for more than 100 years.
About the role
The Education Consultant is an integral member of a dynamic team to ensure the timely, efficient delivery of a range of services relating to the professional work of the association. In particular, the provision of quality professional development, teacher events, student activities, membership activities, conferences and the development and dissemination of resources and publications for mathematics educators. A teaching background and university qualification is essential.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide advice and support in mathematics education to members/educators across the state
• Assist the CEO in maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders and build sector knowledge and links, including visits and discussions with mathematics educators, government authorities, universities and other key stakeholders.
• Actively contribute to designing, monitoring and delivering MAV professional development programs.
• Contribute and work on various programs as required including, student activities, conferences, membership recruitment and programs, resource development, communications, planning, MAVshop and funded projects.
• Support contracted consultants working directly in schools, providing advice and leadership, and undertaking consulting as required.
• Contribute to the strategic planning and future directions of the Association.
• Serve as the official representative to one or more Board committees as allocated.
• Manage budgets and ensure marketing for programs worked on is highly professional – this includes the MAV newsletter, journals, social media, website and other marketing and communication mediums.
• Assist the team in driving the growth and engagement of our active online mathematics community, including initiating and participating in meaningful discussion threads, writing insightful blog posts, sharing educational resources, and offering support in post-event follow-ups to create a vibrant, inclusive space for learning and conversation.
