Compassion Australia’s headquarters is in Newcastle but we have offices across Australia. We are open to receiving applications Australia-wide for this position. This role is a full time, temporary 12-month contract, and will be performed in a hybrid arrangement.

About the Role  

Compassion is a Christian organisation, and it is important that the successful candidate supports our values and Statement of Faith. 
  
Reporting to the Head of Projects, Research and Analytics, the Data Analyst effectively identifies relevant and available data sources and implements methods to gather, interpret and report data. You will contribute significantly by having a strong understanding of data modeling, analysis approaches, and translating complex information into reportable and usable knowlegde. You will also be assisting in ensuring the quality of the systems and tools used and monitoring its effectiveness to ensure decisions at Compassion Australia are data-informed. The role will require strong collaboration and stakeholder management across internal and external groups. You will be adding value to the works of Compassion through being detail-oriented, methodical, and analytical in your approaches.  
  
About You  

  • You are methodical in your thought process and have successfully applied that capability to perform tasks effectively and achieve results. 
  • You are analytical in your approach; you find ease in identifying information or variances and have the ability to translate data and communicate solutions.
  • You are highly organised and have excellent ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines.
  • You are passionate about continuous improvement, always seeking to better processes and frameworks to increase efficiency. 
  • You enjoy cross-departmental collaboration and have excellent interpersonal communication. 
  • You have strong knowledge of data modelling techniques, reporting packages and analytical methodologies  
  • Intermediate query skills – SQL, R, Python    
  • Intermediate experience in ETL tools   
  • Experience in database solutions – Azure Synapse, Snowflake   
  • Experience in data visualisation applications – Power BI, Tableau 
  • You have well-developed experience applying knowledge gained through analysis to solving business and process problems.
