KOPWA is seeking expressions of interest to appoint new Board Members in a volunteer capacity from December 2023.

 

Founded in 1957, KOPWA is a not-for-profit organisation and respected and accredited aged care provider that is committed to supporting the needs of seniors in their own home and the residents in our newly redeveloped 102 bed aged care facility in Roseville. Our priority is to maintain the wonderful culture we have created whilst also embracing change that supports our growth. We care about our staff, our residents and our clients and it shows.

 

The organisation also manages Home Care Packages, both Government supported and Fee for Service, that support clients in their homes, comprising package Levels 1 to 4. These services are provided in the Ku-ring-gai area and extend into the Northern Beaches.

 

KOPWA is seeking to appoint three independent non-executive Directors with particular expertise and qualifications in any of the following areas to support the business through our next phase in growth trajectory and beyond:

  • Business leadership
  • Accounting and Finance
  • Strategic planning and execution
  • Corporate Governance and Risk Management with Senior Manager/C suite experience
  • Clinical Governance or Practitioner from Health Care, Aged Care or social Worker at Administration level
  • Marketing and/or Digital Marketing
  • A passion for the sector or a genuine interest to contribute to the sector.

 

The Board is responsible for:

  • overseeing an effective governance and risk management framework for KOPWA
  • setting strategic direction
  • ensuring high standards of professional and ethical conduct are maintained
  • high level support of business operations, ensuring the business is well placed to achieve   high standards of care and compliance with Aged Care Quality Standards and continued  
    accreditation
  • approving annual budgets and budget reviews
  • monitoring and reviewing financial performance
  • ensuring the accountability and performance of the CEO
  • Currently, the Board meets bi-monthly and considers urgent matters out-of-session as required.
  • The Board has several sub-committees which meet bi-monthly or as required. All Directors are expected to join at least one committee. 

 

Directors are personally required to:

  • attend in person (or by video) and actively participate in Board meetings
  • stay informed about industry and Board matters and be prepared for Board meetings
  • serve on sub-committees as required
  • build collegial working relationships with other Directors that contribute to a consensus approach to decision making
  • utilise their own skills, experience, knowledge and networks to support the ongoing success of KOPWA
  • Continue to update their skills and knowledge as directors
