About the organisation

Organisation Name : South East Councils Climate Change Alliance

The South East Councils Climate Change Alliance (SECCCA) is made up of nine local governments to the South East of Melbourne. The Alliance, established in 2004, comprises of Local Government members, with senior officers making up the SECCCA Management Committee. SECCCA is financed through membership fees, with some additional external project delivery funding, often secured through grants.   

About the role

Reporting to the Management Committee, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the overall management, administration and operation of the South East Councils Climate Change Alliance (SECCCA). The CEO will develop strategies to seek and secure the funding required to deliver SECCCA’s goals and strategic objectives.   

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the strategic direction and priorities of SECCCA.
  • Provide strong leadership, through ensuring collaboration amongst member councils, including council officers, executives, councilors, CEO’s and SECCCA staff and contractors.
  • Represent SECCCA and SECCCA’s strategic direction/plan in various forums.
  • Undertake high-level networking, advocacy and relationship building to ensure SECCCA’s profile, advocacy and project outcomes remain current (including with state and federal governments, their elected representatives and the private sector).
  • Work across member Councils to support regional collaboration and ensure success and satisfaction with SECCCA projects and advocacy.
  • Stay up to date in terms of climate action approaches/ technology etc.

About You

You’re a confident, master communicator with networking being one of your biggest strengths. You are passionate about impactful work, specifically in Climate Change and because of this, people respond to the message you deliver. These skills and interests ensure you form robust partnerships and relationships with a wide range of individuals, groups, and councils. You prefer to work in collaboration and have experience in engaging with Local, State and Federal Government stakeholders.

From the ability to drive focus in the day-to-day, to converting ideas and opportunities to create impact by representing the vision and purpose of SECCCA to Council Members and stakeholders, whilst prioritising the financial viability of the organisation.
  
Required Skills and Proficiencies

  • Substantial experience setting and delivering on strategic priorities.
  • Substantial experience working in the climate change field.
  • Substantial experience in complex project and people management.
  • Strong financial and business management.
  • Exceptional communicator, including strong skills in advocacy and an ability to build strong evidence-based arguments to support work.
