About the organisation
SHINE for Kids is the only national charity to provide services solely to support children and young people with a parent in custody. Our programs operate in correctional facilities, schools and in community throughout NSW, ACT, VIC and QLD.
About the role
- 20 hours Part time hours available.
- SCHADS Grade 3.1, $36.00 per hour.

Your New Role
To support children, young people and families impacted by parental incarceration by providing programs and activities, information, referral services and advocacy.
- Plan and implement the programs including Child and Parent days, Playgroup, Parenting programs, Prison In-visits, Storytime, and the supported visits program, ensuring they meet the needs of children visiting the Correctional Centre, ensuring they are implemented in an age appropriate, culturally competent and safe manner.
- Ensure necessary resources are available for the smooth running of the programs.
- Promote a caring, positive and nonjudgmental environment for children where they are the priority and where they, and their families, are treated with dignity and respect.
- Promote the safety and wellbeing of children using the service as well as staff.
- Maintain an open, warm and professional relationship with parents in custody and families and carers on the outside.
- Please note this position involves work inside a Correctional Centre environment.

Experience Required/ Skills
- Qualifications in either Early Childhood, Adult Education or Human Services preferable (Children, Social Work, Community Welfare etc)
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current Working with Vulneralbe Children Check essential
- The capacity to receive clearance via a criminal record check.
- Current driver’s licence
