About the role

As the First Nations Employment Pathways Officer, you will contribute to Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan delivery by supporting the development and implementation of employment and professional development opportunities for First Nations peoples at Wyndham Council.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to help grow the number of First Nations identified roles and people working within Wyndham Council and strengthen Wyndham Council as an employer of choice.
What you’ll deliver
- Support First Nations recruitment, retention and professional development.
- Successful development and delivery of Wyndham’s First Nations Traineeship program, in collaboration with partners and management.
- Facilitation and administration of Council’s Aboriginal Staff Inclusion Group.
- Research best practice and propose recommendations to management for consideration.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of Strategy.
What you’ll bring
- Experience delivering First Nations employment initiatives or other programs that advance the rights and outcomes of First Nations peoples
- Understanding of the matters that are impacting First Nations peoples and a commitment to continue to develop cultural capability
- Ability to manage time, set priorities, plan, and organise own work
- Experience in building relationships to influence mutually beneficial outcomes with internal and external stakeholders
- A relevant degree or diploma course with little or no relevant work experience, or through lesser formal qualifications with relevant work skills, or through relevant experience and work skills commensurate with the requirements of this position
- A current employee Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain
- A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude.
