About the role

The Internal Audit Function is a small, professional, high-performing team that prides itself on delivering outcomes and providing value across Mercy Health (MH).

The Audit Manager defines, coordinates and executes the annual internal audit program which is reported to the Board and Executive Leadership for governance and oversight. 

Reporting to the Chief Risk and Assurance Offer (as part of a broader ‘Internal Audit and Risk Assurance’ team) the core responsibilities of the Audit Manager are:

  • Internal audit program: lead the design and execution of the enterprise-wise internal audit program, utilising co-sourced internal audit providers (as part of an annual plan).
  • Facilitate internal auditing – Plan and execute audits in accordance with the Mercy Health Internal Audit methodology.
  • Audit reporting – prepare stakeholder reports and provide regular feedback to the Executive group and Board Committees. 
  • Education and awareness – provide internal audit training and contribute to organisation-wide awareness activities to support a positive risk culture and embed risk management practices into business-as-usual activities.

This role requires strong stakeholder engagement – developing strong working relationships with MH Managers, Leaders and Directors to implement and maintain sustainable, systematic and disciplined risk management approaches.

This is a full-time (76 hrs a fortnight), permanent position based from our Richmond Office with hybrid working arrangements (3 days onsite; 2 days WFH) available. Please note that the role requires 10% national travel.

Part time (0.8 FTE) may be considered for the right candidate.

 

ABOUT YOU:

We seek a proven leader with demonstrable success within a complex, diverse and evolving environment. If you are an independent self-starter who loves attention to detail and maintains a high degree of integrity in all your work – we want to hear from you!

You will hold extensive experience and demonstrated competency in: 

  • Highly desirable: Tertiary and/or industry qualifications in commerce or business management.
  • Technical auditing skills and experience such as data analytics.
  • Desirable: Member of a relevant professional association or institute e.g. Risk Management Institute of Australia, Institute of Internal Auditors, Chartered Accountants Australia, Certified Internal Auditor
  • High degree of familiarity in the health and / or aged care sectors (not mandatory).
  • Experience in managing an internal audit program (including co-sourced internal audit providers)
