About the organisation
LINA is the national industry association support local and independent digital news publishers. Our job is to strengthen public interest journalism through capacity building for newsrooms, facilitating networking and shared services across a membership group of independent publishers.
You will work closely with the Member Engagement Officer to amplify member stories. In addition, you will facilitate the communication of work undertaken by the Policy & Partnerships Officer and outcomes reported by the Data & Insights Analyst and support the Executive Director. Your work will be informed and supported by content ideas from these areas, working cooperatively to gather information for your coordination, collation and distribution.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity to support the growth of local and independent news services through shining a light on impactful public interest journalism. The purpose of this role, broadly, is to:
- Build awareness of hyperlocal and independent news publishers;
- Communicate the impact of local news in communities; and
- Grow the reach and reputation of the national industry association brand.
This role is about sharing stories of impact. You will have direct engagement with journalists and publishers, produce dynamic audiovisual content, and be supported by a small dynamic team dedicated to increasing media diversity in the Australian news landscape.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for a motivated storyteller who can distil ideas to connect with new audiences. You are curious, personable and creative. You can write an exciting media release. You bring vision and strategic thinking to the role, producing engaging work that raises the profile of local news reporting. You will need excellent organisational skills to manage multiple deadlines and distribution streams. You can work autonomously to implement a communications strategy, develop new ideas to bring to the team and build strong relationships through seeking out stories from members and stakeholders to highlight. You bring social media expertise and demonstrable experience with building audiences across platforms.
The ideal candidate has exceptional written skills requiring minimal editing, excellent content production skills and strong comprehension of complex concepts. You will need a strong understanding of social media audience engagement and video production capability to create content for online distribution. Experience in digital and/or graphic design skills would be helpful to demonstrate your ability for creating interesting visualisations of key information.
Experience with WordPress, Canva, Google Workspace, social media management (Buffer), database management and other communication tools will help and should be outlined in your application. Graphic design experience will be highly regarded.
Hours: Part time (0.8 = 30 hours per week)
Location: Melbourne preferred or Remote (hybrid/work from home)
